We're here
for you
We know from first-hand experience the emotional impact a dementia diagnosis has on everyone living with dementia. Common feelings during this life-changing experience can include anxiety, distress, and even depression, not just for the person that has dementia but for the whole family. Families and friends provide most of the care for people with dementia and it is vital that everyone living with dementia receives the help and support they need to maximise their health and wellbeing.
Dementia Support Hampshire & IOW is here to support anyone and everyone living with dementia, be it the person with dementia, their family and friends, or their caregivers.
Support Drop-ins
We host weekly drop-ins. You can pop in for a cuppa and a chat if you have any questions or concerns, or need some emotional support. Our trained staff and volunteers will be there as a listening ear, and if needed signpost you to a service, whether it be a service offered by Dementia Support Hampshire & IOW, or by another provider.
We will be launching more drop-ins throughout Hampshire & IOW in the coming months so please keep an eye on our event calendar.

Social Groups
Our social groups offer you the opportunity to meet new people and make friends with others going through the same experience as you.
Each week we offer a range of activities to include cognitive stimulation games, arts & crafts or reminiscence, or you can just have a cuppa and chat to staff, volunteers and other group members.
The groups are for anyone and everyone living with dementia, be it the person with dementia, dementia carers, family or friends. It is free to attend and there is no need to book, just turn up and join in.
Musical Moments
Music is proven to enhance the quality of life for people living with dementia, and their carers. It has the power to bring people together in the here and now, providing a way to stay connected with loved ones and carers through shared experiences.
It can enliven, stimulate and enable people to express themselves creatively beyond words.
Research and lived experiences show that music can help reduce the often-distressing symptoms of dementia, such as agitation, apathy and anxiety.
We host monthly musical groups in Hedge End, Fareham, and Otterbourne. Full details are available on our event calendar.

Days Out
We organise days out and trips, so that you can meet others in the same situation as you. Make new friends, share stories and coping strategies, and have some fun times.

Talking Therapy
It’s good to talk, and sometimes talking to someone outside your immediate circle of family and friends can be easier. We are here to listen, and support you, and if needed signpost you to another service that can help you to improve your wellbeing.
Either give us a call on 0344 324 6580 (Monday to Friday 8am-6pm), pop in to one of our Support & Social Groups for some one-to-one, or contact us via the button below to arrange a time to talk.
