Dementia Support Hampshire & IOW is a small independent charity that provides peer support, information, and signposting for people living with dementia and their families in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
We are a small team of staff and volunteers, who work hard to improve the lives of people living with dementia in our local communities. If you’d like to join our team, please see below current opportunities.
Peer Support Coordinator - Farnborough
The role is part-time – 5 hours per week, working on Monday 11.30am – 4.30pm
The main duties of the role will be to ensure the smooth running of our Farnborough Support & Social Group.
The successful candidate must have experience working within a group, ideally in being a group leader and organising events and activities.
The ability to manage and lead a team of volunteers.
Be able to work under pressure and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Be physically fit and able to set up/take down the tables and chairs at each group session, and to carry equipment from the car to the venue.
Ability to work as part of a team within the group you lead and with internal and external contacts.
Be flexible and reliable.
Be able to advocate for individuals and help them navigate the health & social care system.
Skills Required for the role are:-
– Good problem solving and decision-making skills and the ability to prioritise and plan your work.
– Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with individuals and their families, community health professionals, community partners, staff and volunteers
– Understand the importance of data collection and the need to evidence impact, as well as experience of using a CRM (database), Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint.
– Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
This position requires a compassionate individual who is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of others. The Peer Support Coordinator role will play a vital role in helping people living with dementia access the support they need to thrive.
