We are looking for volunteers across the whole of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, with all kinds of skills and experience. Social Group Leaders / Social Group Helpers / Arts & Crafts Facilitators

Dementia Support Hampshire & IOW host weekly Support & Social Groups in Eastleigh, Fareham, Basingstoke and New Milton, with more locations across Hampshire launching in 2024.

We are looking for volunteers to lead a group each week for 3 hours. The role will involve managing a small team of volunteer helpers to run the group each week, providing peer support and activities. Full training will be given and you will be supported by our Dementia Support Worker/Group Coordinator.

We are also looking for volunteers to help at the groups, making tea/coffee, hosting an activity table – playing cognitive stimulation/memory games, using books to reminisce, facilitating arts & crafts, or chatting to group members.

If you enjoy arts and crafts then why not use your creative talent to help people living with dementia participate in the arts.

We need volunteers in Fareham, Eastleigh, Basingstoke, Andover, Fleet/Farnborough, Havant/Waterlooville, Portsmouth, Southampton, and the New Forest.

Musical Group Leaders / Musical Group Helpers

We host monthly Musical Moments Groups in Hedge End, Segensworth, and Horndean, with more locations across Hampshire launching in 2024.

We are looking for volunteers to lead a group once a month for 2 hours. The role will involve working with the venue staff to welcome our community members. Being the main contact for the music provider on the day. Working with other volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the event. Full training will be given and you will be supported by our Dementia Support Worker/Group Coordinator.

We also need community choirs, ukulele bands, musicians to volunteer 45 minutes once a quarter in the following areas; Basingstoke, Andover, Fleet/Farnborough, Havant/Waterlooville, Portsmouth, Southampton, and the New Forest.

 

Walk for Dementia Organisers and Helpers

Every September we Walk for Dementia to raise funds to support people living with dementia in our local communities.

We are looking for volunteers to organise a walk in their local area, and for helpers to help raise awareness or help on the day. You will be supported by our charity fundraiser.

In 2023 we raised a whopping £3,500!

 

Walk & Talk Buddies

We are looking for volunteers to pair up with someone in their local area that has dementia and/or their family carer to go for a regular Walk & Talk. Frequency and walk duration to be agreed between the walk buddies.

We need Walk & Talk Buddies across the whole of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

 

Community Fundraisers

This could be collecting donations in a collection bucket in a local shopping centre, arranging community fundraising events, helping to raise awareness of our annual fundraising campaigns in your local area, talking to local business’s or schools to engage them in fundraising for us, or gathering raffle prizes. Let us know what you’d like to do and we will support you to achieve your fundraising goals. You will be supported by our charity fundraiser.

We need help with fundraising across the whole of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
