Lyndhurst Support & Social

Join Dementia Support Hampshire & IOW every Thursday at Hartwood House in Lyndhurst, 1.30pm – 3.30pm for our weekly social meet-up.

Activities include; arts & crafts, reminiscence, cognitive stimulation games, quizzes, and conversation. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served.

The event is free and for anyone and everyone living with memory loss or dementia, including family and friends, and carers.

No need to book, just turn up and join in!

Please note: There are a few parking spaces in the car park and you can double park (but please let reception know), alternatively, there is some on road parking in the road opposite.

You can also book a 1:1 appointment with a member of staff if you need help with form filling and claiming attendance allowance, or information about Power of Attorney, home help, respite, or residential care. Call the helpline on 0344 324 6589 to find out more or book your appointment.

There is no charge for any of our services but donations are gratefully received.

A drop in afternoon for family, friends, carers and those living with dementia. Enjoy a safe, relaxed afternoon singing to enhance wellbeing and an opportunity to ask questions and share concerns with others. A selection of snacks and refreshments will be available in the beautiful environment of Hartwood House Care Home in Lyndhurst. No need to book, just turn up and join in!

A 45minute musical session, followed by refreshments. 2pm-3.30pm.

The event is free to attend and is open to anyone and everyone living with dementia, but would be particularly beneficial for people living with mid/later stage dementia, as singing can relieve symptoms and enhance mood.

Waterlooville Support & Social Group

Join Dementia Support Hampshire & IOW every second Wednesday each month, 11am – 1pm for our monthly social meet-up.

Activities include; arts & crafts, reminiscence, cognitive stimulation games, quizzes, and conversation. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served.

The event is for anyone and everyone living with dementia, be it the person with dementia, their family and friends, or their carers.

No need to book, just turn up and join in!

You can also book a 1:1 appointment with a Dementia Support Advisor if you need help with form filling, claiming attendance allowance, Blue Badge or council tax reduction, or information about Power of Attorney, home help, respite, or residential care. Dance Class for Carers

Hosted by Dementia Friendly Alton,  exercise to music at your own pace with an option to use a chair if needed. This informal movement to music group offers carer support a cuppa and a chat.

No need to book, just turn up and join in! £3 per session.

Alzheimer Café Isle Of Wight – Ryde

Hosted by Alzheimer Café Isle of Wight, Ryde Alzheimer Café is held at the church hall, All Saints’ Church, Queens Road, Ryde PO33 3AF, from 11.30am – 1.30pm, on the first Wednesday of each month (not January).

An informal, supportive and friendly atmosphere for people whose lives have been affected by dementia.

Each month an informative presentation relating to dementia is given, there is time to discuss dementia related issues in a relaxed atmosphere, with coffee/tea and cakes being served.

There is no charge to attend an Alzheimer Café, however, donations are welcomed.

Newport Alzheimer Café is held at the Newclose County Cricket Ground, Blackwater Road, Newport, PO30 3BE from 6pm – 8pm, on the last Thursday of each month.

Isle of Wight Friendship Group

Hosted by Alzheimer’s Society, come along to our IOW Friendship group. Our groups are for anyone affected by dementia.

This includes the person with the diagnosis, family friends and carers.

We provide a number of activities for you to take part in or if you’d prefer, just come along for a chat.

This is a friendly and welcoming group who like to go out through the year.

Singing for the Brain – Basingstoke

Hosted by Alzheimer’s Society, Singing for the Brain® is based around the principles of music therapy and singing.

The structured group sessions use music to encourage communication and participation and include opportunities to talk to other people.

Each session includes a range of activities including vocal warm-up and singing a variety of familiar and new songs.

We have a half hour social get together over tea or coffee before we move to the circle of seats where we do an hour of singing and playing different handheld instruments.

Singing for the brain ® is for the person with a diagnosis of dementia and their carer.
