Join Dementia Support Hampshire & IOW every Thursday at Hartwood House in Lyndhurst, 1.30pm – 3.30pm for our weekly social meet-up.

Activities include; arts & crafts, reminiscence, cognitive stimulation games, quizzes, and conversation. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served.

The event is free and for anyone and everyone living with memory loss or dementia, including family and friends, and carers.

No need to book, just turn up and join in!

Please note: There are a few parking spaces in the car park and you can double park (but please let reception know), alternatively, there is some on road parking in the road opposite.

Waterlooville Support & Social Group

Join Dementia Support Hampshire & IOW every second Wednesday each month, 11am – 1pm for our monthly social meet-up.

Activities include; arts & crafts, reminiscence, cognitive stimulation games, quizzes, and conversation. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served.

The event is for anyone and everyone living with dementia, be it the person with dementia, their family and friends, or their carers.

Dance Class for Carers

Hosted by Dementia Friendly Alton,  exercise to music at your own pace with an option to use a chair if needed. This informal movement to music group offers carer support a cuppa and a chat.

No need to book, just turn up and join in! £3 per session.

Nurture

Hosted by Dementia Friendly Alton, Nurture is a young onset dementia peer support group, providing an opportunity to socialise in a forest setting, keep active, chat and relax. There are opportunities to enjoy cycling, (inclusive bikes available), walk, bowl, practice yoga, play table tennis, swing ball, volleyball, family friendly activities and much more.

Alzheimer Café Isle Of Wight – Ryde

Hosted by Alzheimer Café Isle of Wight, Ryde Alzheimer Café is held at the church hall, All Saints’ Church, Queens Road, Ryde PO33 3AF, from 11.30am – 1.30pm, on the first Wednesday of each month (not January).

An informal, supportive and friendly atmosphere for people whose lives have been affected by dementia.

Each month an informative presentation relating to dementia is given, there is time to discuss dementia related issues in a relaxed atmosphere, with coffee/tea and cakes being served.

There is no charge to attend an Alzheimer Café, however, donations are welcomed.

Flourish in the Forest with Dementia Friendly Alton

Meet Dementia Friendly Alton at the Activity Centre in Alice Holt Forest, (Sat Nav Postcode: GU10 4LS) for an active and enjoyable day out in stunning surroundings where you can choose which activities you would like to enjoy.

Choose between Yoga / Horticulture / Guided Walk & Relaxation / Accessible bikes/ Regular bikes/ Boules/ Craft and other activities made available on the day. Please look online as spaces are limited.

An example of a day
1000 – 1015 – Arrive at the Activity Centre and book in for day / sessions – tea and coffee available

1030 – 1130 – Gentle Yoga with Sue Tupper – sorry no yoga in November as Sue is away

1015 – 1230 – Morning Session – Inclusive bikes, Regular bikes, Guided Nature Walk

1230 – 1300 – Break (light refreshments for lunch provided or purchase your own from on-site catering facilities )

1330 – 1545 – Afternoon Session – Choose from Horticulture, Regular bike, Guided Nature Walk, Crafts in the Activity Centre, Garden Boules, or just time for a chat

1545 – 1600 – Catch up and chat at the Activity Centre / Feedback for future events

Dementia Carers Support Drop In

A dementia-friendly drop-in for carers and those living with dementia, hosted by Speedwell Court Care Home.

Join them for a cuppa, cake and conversation, plus advice from guest organisations working to support the community.

Held on the first Wednesday each month 2pm – 3.30pm.

Carer’s Cafe at Portsdown View Care Home

Portsdown View Care Home  offers a warm welcome in a safe, non-judgemental and friendly space. Each month’s carer’s café is open to people affected by dementia and their relatives, friends and carers, as well as anyone of ‘a certain age’ who’d like to join them for a sociable afternoon.

Come and try out some relaxing craft activities and puzzles, order a drink or snack from our cafe bar and enjoy the chance to have a good old-fashioned natter in good company.
