Free Information Dementia Talk at Hartwood House, Lyndhurst

Hartwood House would like to invite anyone caring for a loved one with dementia to a free information Dementia talk on World Alzheimer’s Day at Hartwood House.

Thursday 21st of September 2023 commencing at 6:30pm, James Wilson, who lectures at the University of Chichester and specialises in dementia will lead the event.
Cheese & wine will be served during the session.

We hope the event will provide a better understanding of what dementia is, as well as giving some useful information on how to help people with dementia live calm and fulfilled lives. There will also be an opportunity to share experiences and talk with others.

Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Navigators – Drop-in Support – Southampton

Hosted by Alzheimer’s Society, this drop-in support session is held at the Royal South Hants Hospital Glass Atrium, the main entrance to the Mary Seacole Wing.

These sessions are held on:

June 13th 2023 from 10.30am – 3.30pm

October 10th 2023 from 10.30am – 3.30pm

February 13th 2024 from 10.30am – 3.30pm

Lordshill Memory Café

Hosted by Caraway, The Lordshill Memory Café is held twice a month on the 2nd & 4th Thursday at Lordshill Church, Lordhill District Centre from 1.30-3pm.

Lordshill Memory Café alternates between a themed reminiscence fostering nostalgic discussions in the second week of the month and a fun singing session in the fourth week.

The memory café is for those with memory problems, their carers and households living with dementia. Hosted in partnership with the Solent Admiral Nursing Team and Carers in Southampton. An Admiral nurse will be present when available.

Introduction to Caring – A Course for Carers

Hosted by The Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Hampshire, this Course will give you the information and advice you will need as you start your caring journey, along with talks from professionals and a relaxing Tai Chi session (wear something comfortable).

This course is being held on Wednesday 31st May 2023 at The Tythings, Reading Road, Yateley, GU46 7RP, 11am-2.30pm.

The Memory Choir

Kim Garner and members of The Memory Choir will perform some of their greatest hits followed by a Q&A about the benefits of singing for well-being. Meet in the theatre from 3.15-4pm.

Hosted by The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre in association with Dementia Friendly Hampshire and Dementia Friendly Havant.

This is a free event, just turn up and join in. Everyone is welcome!

Hosted by London Street United Reformed Church, The Memory Tree Social Club is an opportunity for people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia and their carers, to relax, enjoy themselves and make new friends. There are a wonderful team of volunteers who look after the visitors with love, kindness and laughter.

There is an average of 25-30 visitors every week, and their feedback is that what is provided is a unique and special place where they can relax and talk to other carers and people with dementia.

The Memory Tree Social Club meets every week on a Wednesday in the Hook Room from 10.30am to 12.00pm.
