Arts & Crafts – Decorated Picture Frames

Hosted by Green Buttercup this is a fun session for people living with Dementia and their carers/relatives – suitable for all abilities and stages of Dementia. This month we will be decorating Picture Frames. There is an entry fee of £4.00 per person and this includes all instruction, materials and tea/coffee with biscuits. If you are unsure as to whether this is a suitable activity, then why not try us out – we won’t charge you for your first visit.

We meet in the Green Room at the Plaza Theatre in Romsey. Please note that there is currently renovation work going on at the Theatre and parking is severely limited. If you are thinking about coming, please make contact and we can advise you on alternative parking.

Dementia Support Group

Support group for anyone with dementia and their carers, hosted by Sunnybank House Care Home.
We meet every Monday afternoon at 2pm – 3.30pm for conversation, activities and we also have entertainment some weeks.
Support is available at the group from an experienced dementia team.

Tea and Cake provided. FREE OF CHARGE

Morning Sail Onboard the M V Alison MacGregor

Join Dementia Support Hampshire & IOW for an afternoon sail onboard the MV Alison MacGregor.

Departs Hythe Marina at 10am, sail around Southampton Waters, you can even have a go at steering the boat with the expert guidance of the Solent Dolphin Captain!

You will need to make your way to Hythe Marina, arriving by 9.45am for 10am departure.

Refreshments will be served onboard by the Solent Dolphin volunteer crew.

There is no charge, but a small donation to Solent Dolphin helps them to cover the costs of the free trips.

Carer’s Cafe at Portsdown View Care Home

Portsdown View Care Home  offers a warm welcome in a safe, non-judgemental and friendly space. Each month’s carer’s café is open to people affected by dementia and their relatives, friends and carers, as well as anyone of ‘a certain age’ who’d like to join them for a sociable afternoon.

Come and try out some relaxing craft activities and puzzles, order a drink or snack from our cafe bar and enjoy the chance to have a good old-fashioned natter in good company.

No need to book, just turn up and join in!

The Memory Choir

The Memory Choir is hosted by Home Instead Fareham & Gosport, and held at Main Hall, Crofton Community Centre, Stubbington Lane, PO14 2PP on the Fourth Tuesday of the month from 2.30pm-4.30pm.

The group provides an opportunity for people living with dementia to enhance their wellbeing and a sense of belonging through the joy of group singing.

A Social Afternoon by the Sea

Join Dementia Support Hampshire & IOW for a social afternoon by the sea!

We will be meeting at the Wheelhouse in Stubbington for the afternoon, so that you can enjoy some time by the sea. The Wheelhouse has toilet facilities and a kitchen where we will provide light refreshments throughout the afternoon.

Please bring a packed lunch or you can order some fish & chips from the local chippy for delivery. Enjoy a walk along the seafront, and maybe an ice cream!

We had a lovely afternoon last year, and hopefully the sun will shine for us so that we can sit outside and enjoy the views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight.

Creative Memory Café

Hosted by The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre in Havant, this is a gentle creative and remembrance session for people living with dementia and their carers. Our Creative Memory Café sessions are supported by Home Instead Havant.

The monthly Memory Cafes are a chance for people living with dementia and their carers to relax, enjoy a cup of tea and take part in some gentle creative activities. Led by facilitator and puppet maker Polly Beestone, these sessions are a way to explore, communicate and connect through themed sessions that use colours, sounds and materials.

Hosted by High Cross Church, Melody for the Mind sessions are friendly, fun group sessions which brings carers and their cared for together to take part in singing and a variety of musical activities. Particularly suitable for those with dementia and other memory problems.

Singing and attending a social activity such as Melody for the Mind has been shown to have positive effect on wellbeing and can be beneficial for people with dementia and other conditions.

Melody for the Mind was established at High Cross Church in 2010 and meets on the 1st and 3rd Friday each month from 1.30, and is free to all who attend.

1:30pm-2:00pm Tea and Chat

2:00pm-3:00pm Programme of musical activities.

The group is entirely run by volunteers, who have been dedicated to this group for many years.

Please come along and join in with this wonderful dementia friendly and supportive group and be sure of a warm welcome and a fun time.
