Keeping you safe at home and online
The Bobby Scheme is a free service provided by The Blue Lamp Trust.
They provide a free home safety and security survey to ensure your home is safe and secure. They will look at whether you need door and window locks, spy holes, window alarms, door chains, smoke detectors, and carbon monoxide alarms, and then supply and fit them free of charge.
This service is available for the vulnerable and elderly, so if you are over 65 years old, and/or have dementia you should be eligible for a free home survey.
How Does It Work?
A full crime prevention and fire safety survey is carried out by a trained, police-vetted fitter. They will provide both general and specific crime and fire prevention advice to improve home safety. When appropriate they will fit such items as locks, spy-holes, door chains and smoke alarms, etc. This service is completely free.
The Blue Lamp Trust can also supply and fit police approved key safes at a cost.

This scheme is partly funded by the Hampshire & IoW Police & Crime Commissioner. Age UK provide a similar service on the Isle of Wight.
Cyber Advisor Visits
A police checked and trained Cyber volunteer will visit you in your own home and give you advice and guidance on basic IT security and how to avoid being affected by a cyber crime or a cyber enabled crime.
They will cover such things as;
- What is cyber crime?
- Cyber and scam prevention advice
- How to check privacy settings
- Signposting to other advice and resources
- How to report issues
- How to recognise scam emails and text messages
We recommend clients consider having a family member or carer present for appointments to assist in recalling the information given during the visit
Advisors are police vetted and carry ID cards.
