Hosted by Right at Home Guildford, this event takes place every Tuesday from 2.15pm-3.30pm at the side hall of Catholic Church of our Lady, Fleet.
Singing for the Mind is a part of Right at Home Guildford’s ambition to enable people living with dementia to continue enjoying life in the community.
Guaranteed to put a smile on your face! Come and join in for an afternoon sing-a-long to some old and some not so old great numbers.
Music, and singing in particular, has been shown to boost brain activity and therefore plays an important part in slowing the progress of dementia. The Alzheimer’s Society lists five examples of the power of music:
1)Music evokes emotions that bring memories.
2)Musical aptitude and appreciation are two of the last remaining abilities in dementia patients.
3)Music can bring emotional and physical closeness.
4)Singing is engaging.
5)Music can shift mood, manage stress and stimulate positive interactions.
There is a charge of £2.50 per person attending
There is free parking available at the church.
